Leano restaurant review

We are back with the reviews!

Leano which means 'plan' is a modern restaurant in Braamfontein. I had been wanting to go to this establishment for weeks as I was simply drawn by the name. It is female and black owned which explain the exquisite attention to detail.

The service is amazing and the establishment is clean. The menu still needs to be developed as some of the items that we wanted to order were not there. The cusine is traditional South African which I totally loved, the meal I had was delicious! I had Mogodu, with dumpling and Chakalaka. I also had their signature Dinaledi cocktail.

I loved their display of art on the walls which you could also buy. They had music playing in the background which was not too loud. The waitress informed us that they have live performances once in a while, I would definitely love to go when I have the time. This is a perfect spot for everyone definitely a nighttime, catch-up with your girlfriends and family sit-in type of place. I highly recommend this spot and I give it a 4/5.
Till next time,cheers!

Are you lazy or just burned out?

Good day, my love bugs. In a world that glorifies productivity, resilience, and endless multi-tasking, many women find themselves quietly battling a double-edged sword: executive dysfunction and emotional burnout. These terms can be intimidating, but they are deeply personal and often misunderstood, especially in women with functional depression. What is executive dysfunction? Kendra Kubala from Healthline wrote in her article Understanding Executive Dysfunction and How It Shows Up that executive dysfunction disrupts the brain's ability to plan, focus, remember instructions, and manage multiple tasks. It affects the executive functions of the brain, which are skills that help us get things done. It is not laziness or lack of willpower. It is often linked to mental health conditions like ADHD, anxiety, depression, and trauma. For many women, executive dysfunction looks like: Starting tasks but never finishing them. Constantly missing deadlines or appointments Feeling overwhelmed ...

Spiritual bypassing and its danger to mental health

Kendra Cherry on Verywellmind describes spiritual bypassing as a tendency to use spiritual explanation to avoid complex psychological issues. My main issue with spiritual bypassing is the notion that one's struggle with mental health is a result of not practicing religion or spirituality enough. It is no surprise that when a person is going through a tough time they lean more on their spirituality and there is nothing wrong with that. However, it has come to my attention over the years how people use spirituality to deflect their trauma. Deflecting trauma Our brains work in amazing ways the human body is built to be sufficient. Our brain will block out certain events because it is trying to protect us from psychological stress. Spiritual bypassing is a way the self-harm or to promote harmony between people mentions Cherry. Spirituality is a force that helps an individual well-being however spiritual bypassing does not resolve the issue it merely glosses over the problem. Facing y...

The Power of an Everything Shower

Good day my love bugs. One surprisingly effective strategy for managing emotional burnout and executive dysfunction is incorporating rituals that offer both structure and sensory relief , like the trending "Everything Shower." This isn’t your quick rinse-and-go kind of shower. It’s a full, intentional self-care experience where you take time to exfoliate, deep-condition your hair, shave, cleanse, and moisturize — essentially doing everything in one extended, uninterrupted session. For women who feel scattered or overstimulated, the Everything Shower can be a grounding ritual that restores a sense of control and calm, even when the rest of life feels chaotic. More than just hygiene, the Everything Shower is about reclaiming your body and time. It provides a rare pause from emotional caregiving and the pressures of constant productivity. The repetition of nurturing steps of scrubbing, rinsing, soothing, becomes meditative and because it has a clear beginning,...
